AirTAC Pneumatics
AirTAC LRM miniature linear guides pair a stainless rail with recirculating-ball carriages for light-duty precision positioning in tight spaces - stocked in 12 and 15 mm rail widths, rails to 995 mm.
inventory_2996 models availableLRM is AirTAC's miniature linear guide: a stainless-steel rail carrying one or more recirculating-ball carriages, built for light loads and smooth, precise travel in a small envelope. It is a mechanical motion component with no bore, stroke or pressure rating. The catalogue covers rail widths of 5, 7, 9, 12 and 15 mm; AirtacDistr stocks 12 and 15 mm, with 12 mm the deepest part of the range (924 of 988 stocked complete sets), in rail lengths from 40 mm to 995 mm across 102 distinct lengths.
Design details the manufacturer states: a common-rail profile so different LRM carriages share the same rail; a ball-retainer that keeps the balls in place during handling, though careful fitting is still needed; Japanese-made balls rated ISO 3290 G10 for roundness and wear - a ball grade, not an accuracy grade for the assembly; a double-lip seal for oil scraping and dust exclusion; and an outer cover that hides the screws, protects the seal strip and keeps larger debris out. Carriages ship pre-filled with Kyodo Yushi PS No. 2 grease, topped up through the rear lubrication hole; re-grease every 100 km of travel or every 3 to 6 months. Ambient temperature must not exceed 80 C, with transient peaks to 100 C.
Ordering options: standard (N) or long (L) carriage, 1 or 2 carriages per rail as coded (our stock also runs 3, 4 and one 10-carriage rail), preload A (none), B (light) or C (medium), accuracy H (high) or P (precision), and top-mount or bottom-mount rail. Load and moment ratings are not published in the data we hold; confirm the figure for your specific model with us before ordering.

A 12 mm rail with two carriages under a small XY stage gives smooth, repeatable travel in a tight envelope; preload B or C tightens positioning repeatability where the mounting surface is ground flat.
Long (L) carriages on 12 mm rail suit compact lab and liquid-handling axes with a slight tipping load - long carriages are stocked as deeply as standard here, so specifying one costs nothing in availability.
Low-friction preload-A carriages on stainless rail suit measuring and inspection fixtures where smooth, drift-free travel matters and the 80 C ambient limit is comfortably clear of the process.
Bottom-mount (T) 15 mm rail lets screws come up through the base on compact pick-and-place gantries; rail lengths from 40 mm to 995 mm match both short strokes and longer runs.
Start by confirming a miniature guide fits the duty: LRM is for light-duty precision positioning in a compact envelope. Pick 12 mm rail as the compact default and the best-availability choice, or 15 mm when you want the wider, stiffer rail. Choose a long (L) carriage to spread the load over more balls and lengthen the bearing span where the load has any tipping component. Set preload: A for the smoothest, most forgiving motion, B or C where rigidity and positioning repeatability matter more (preload demands a flatter, more parallel mounting surface). Choose top-mount or bottom-mount rail to suit screw access. Five points to confirm before ordering: rail width (12 or 15 mm from stock), rail length and travel, carriage type and count, preload and accuracy grade, and mounting direction - then confirm the load and moment rating for the exact model with us.
Mount onto ground or finish-milled surfaces; either rail side can serve as the datum face, and with two or more carriages keep the datum on the same side for better running accuracy. If the load is substantial or cantilevered, step up to the AirTAC LSH series, which has published load and moment ratings and sizes 15 to 30 from stock. For maximum rigidity and accuracy over a short stroke, see the AirTAC LGC crossed roller guide; for powered linear motion rather than a passive guide, use an AirTAC guided cylinder (TCL, TCM).
Quick checklist
The catalogue spans 5, 7, 9, 12 and 15 mm rail widths. We stock 12 and 15 mm only, with 12 mm the bulk of the range (924 of 988 stocked complete sets). Rail lengths run from 40 mm to 995 mm across 102 distinct lengths, and a two-section spliced format exists for longer runs. LRM5, LRM7 and LRM9 are available to order - ask us.
Standard (N) carriages suit most axes; long (L) carriages spread the load over more balls and help when the load has a tipping component. Preload A gives the smoothest, most forgiving motion; B (light) or C (medium) add rigidity and repeatability but demand a flatter, more parallel mounting surface. Accuracy H (high) suits general precision work; P (precision) gives tighter travel accuracy. Spliced rail sets are offered in H only.
Yes, but a carriage-only part does not include a rail. The last code position is a pairing code (A to E) that must match the rail, so read the code off the original part. We stock four carriage-only SKUs, all pairing code C; other pairings are special order - ask us. The common-rail design means carriages share the same LRM rail profile, but this interchange is between LRM carriages and LRM rails only, not other manufacturers' rails.
We do not publish load or moment ratings for LRM because the manufacturer's data we hold lists none; confirm the rating for your exact model with us before ordering and we will get the figure. All parts are genuine AirTAC, and size 12 ships fastest since it is the bulk of our stock. Remember LRM is rated for ambient temperatures up to 80 C (transient peaks to 100 C) and ships pre-greased with Kyodo Yushi PS No. 2.
