AirTAC Pneumatics
The AirTAC MBLJ series is a double-acting aluminum mini cylinder (20-63 mm bore) with an external screw to fine-tune the extend stroke on site, built for compact machines needing exact forward positioning.
inventory_2980 models availableThe MBLJ series is the adjustable-stroke version of the AirTAC MBL aluminum-barrel mini round cylinder. It shares the MBL barrel, piston rod, ports and mounting hardware, but adds an external adjusting screw and stop nut. This lets you shorten the extend stroke on site within a per-model window, so you can fine-tune the forward end position at commissioning without adding external stops.
The range spans six bores from 20 to 63 mm, with rod diameters from 8 mm up to 16 mm. Ports are G1/8 on 20-32 mm bores and G1/4 on 40-63 mm bores, available in PT, G and NPT threads. Standard strokes reach 500 mm, with special orders available to 800 mm. The force class spans about 157 N push at 0.5 MPa on the 20 mm bore, up to 1558 N on the 63 mm bore. Theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa spans about 32 kgf to 318 kgf.
The shared design is double acting with a fixed rubber bumper. The bumper decelerates the piston near stroke end but does not lock or hold position; if load holding is required, add a mechanical lock or pilot check valve. The cylinder operates at 0.15-1.0 MPa with 40 um filtered air, supports speeds of 30-800 mm/s, and runs in -20 to +70 C temperatures. The carbon steel rod has a 20 um chrome plating. An -S magnet option supports CMSG, DMSG and EMSG sensors. Mounting options include LB foot, FA flange and SDB pivot brackets, with U or CA back covers. This is a compact aluminum mini cylinder, not an ISO standard cylinder.

Fine-tune the extend stroke on site during fixture commissioning to hit an exact clamping or pressing position without machining external stop collars.
Adjust the forward stroke on the fly to accommodate different package heights, using the 20-32 mm bores for compact, low-force tucking and sealing heads.
Use the 40-63 mm bores to push varying product sizes off a conveyor belt, trimming the extend stroke to match lane widths without changing the cylinder.
Fit the aluminum mini barrel into tight robotic gripper frames and use the external stop nut to set precise jaw travel limits for delicate handling.
Choose the bore based on your load and pressure. At 0.5 MPa the 20 mm bore pushes about 157 N, while the 63 mm bore pushes 1558 N. Select the 20-32 mm bores with G1/8 ports for tight spaces and lighter forces, or the 40-63 mm bores with G1/4 ports for heavier loads up to 318 kgf theoretical max at 1.0 MPa. Use the MBLJ when you need to trim the forward end position on site. If you need adjustable air cushioning instead of stroke adjustment, step out to the MBLC series. If you need both stroke trimming and air cushioning, use the MBLCJ series. For fixed-stroke applications without adjustment, the standard MBL series is sufficient.
When matching a model, confirm these five points: the bore size (20-63 mm), the required standard or special stroke (up to 500 mm standard, 800 mm special), the port thread type and size (PT, G or NPT in G1/8 or G1/4), the mounting style (LB foot, FA flange, SDB pivot, or U/CA back cover), and whether you need the -S magnet option for position sensing.
Quick checklist
The series spans six bores from 20 to 63 mm. At 0.5 MPa, push force ranges from about 157 N on the 20 mm bore to 1558 N on the 63 mm bore. The theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa spans about 32 kgf to 318 kgf. Standard strokes reach 500 mm, with special orders available up to 800 mm.
The MBLJ is the adjustable-stroke version of the fixed-stroke MBL mini cylinder. It uses an external adjusting screw and stop nut to shorten the extend stroke on site. The MBLC adds an adjustable air cushion. The MBLCJ combines both adjustable stroke and adjustable air cushion. All share the same aluminum barrel, bores, ports and mounting interfaces.
No. The MBLJ is a compact aluminum mini cylinder and does not claim any ISO standard. It uses a fixed rubber bumper that decelerates the piston near stroke end but does not act as a lock or brake. The cylinder is double acting and will not hold position if air pressure is lost. For load holding, you need a mechanical lock, rod brake or pilot check valve.
An -S magnet option is available for use with CMSG, DMSG and EMSG reed or solid-state sensors. Mounting options include LB foot brackets, FA flanges, SDB pivot brackets, and U or CA back covers. Ports are G1/8 for 20-32 mm bores and G1/4 for 40-63 mm bores, available in PT, G and NPT threads.
