AirTAC SUJ Series Adjustable Cylinders

The AirTAC SUJ series is a discontinued line of adjustable-stroke profile-type pneumatic cylinders. It features a compact extruded aluminum barrel that is shorter than a standard ISO 15552 cylinder of the same bore. The series is NOT an ISO 15552 cylinder. It operates double-acting with a single rod, handling air filtered to 40 um at pressures of 0.15-1.0 MPa and temperatures from -20 to +70 C (with a 150 C option).

The bore range spans 32, 40, 50, 63, 80 and 100 mm. Force class scales with bore: push force at 0.5 MPa spans about 402 N (bore 32) to 3927 N (bore 100). Maximum theoretical force at 1.0 MPa spans about 82 kgf to 801 kgf. An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke on-site by up to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75 or 100 mm. Ports range from 1/8 to 1/2 inch in PT, G or NPT threads.

SUJ cylinders use adjustable cushions for end-of-stroke deceleration only. The cushion does not lock or hold the load; a mechanical lock or pilot check valve is required for load holding. The SUJ is replaced by the SAUJ series. The SAUJ is a true drop-in upgrade: body, bore, stroke, force, adjust window, ports and FA/LB mounting are unchanged. The only change is sensors, which upgrade from legacy CS1-B/DS1-B to current CMSG/DMSG/EMSG models.
