The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V106-X0 is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with 1/8 in ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
The AirTAC 3V106 is the 1/8 in ported member of the 3V1 family: a three-port, two-position valve that either feeds a single line or vents it to exhaust. Because it is direct-acting with a spring return, the spool moves on coil power alone - no minimum pressure is needed to shift it - and the spring takes the valve back whenever power is removed. It is a normally-open type supplied in one fixed initial state; there is no NC/NO selector in the ordering code, so confirm the state on the datasheet before wiring it into a safety-relevant circuit.
This individual valve (no manifold suffix) carries a PT-threaded 1/8 in port and a DIN plug electrical entry, so the coil connects through a removable socket connector that unplugs cleanly for servicing. The coil housing is sealed to IP65 (DIN 40050), a manual override is fitted for commissioning without power, and the air supply must be filtered to 40 um or finer with no lubrication required.

|---|---|
| 1/8 in | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| — | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
On a water-treatment skid, a 3V106 vents or pressurises the actuator line of a bigger pneumatically piloted valve. The low-power coil lets a small PLC relay card switch it directly, and the manual override makes commissioning the loop simple.
Positioned over the conveyor, the valve opens a burst of plant air to dry bottle necks before labelling. De-energising vents the line to exhaust instead of dead-ending it, so no product is left under residual pressure between bursts.
A single-acting swing clamp on a small milling fixture is fed and vented by the 3V106: energise to clamp, cut power and the spring returns the clamp. The 0-0.8 MPa operating window matches standard shop air with headroom to spare.
3V106 is the smallest, lowest-power body in AirTAC's 3V range, so check the flow before committing. The catalogue publishes no Cv or effective area for 3V1 - if your duty is flow-critical, send us the application and we will confirm suitability. When you need more passage, step up to the 3V2 (1/8 in and 1/4 in, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, and rated for vacuum) or the 3V3 (1/4 in, Cv 0.62). If panel density matters more than flow, 3V2M is the manifold-optimised alternative. And remember: a 3/2 valve cannot drive a double-acting cylinder - that job needs a five-port valve from the AirTAC 4V series.
Five points fix your order: port size (M5 or 1/8 in), thread (PT is the standard on this family; G and NPT are catalogue options to order), coil voltage (AC220V, AC110V, AC24V, DC24V or DC12V), electrical entry (DIN plug as on this SKU, or flying lead), and whether you need an individual valve or a 1-20 station manifold assembly. Up to 20 3V1 valves can be ganged in series to save panel space.
Confirm before you order
It is a 3/2 direct-acting, single-solenoid, spring-return valve with a PT-threaded 1/8 in port and DIN plug entry. Operating pressure is 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi), media temperature is -20 to 70 C, and protection is IP65 (DIN 40050). Coil power depends on the voltage ordered: AC220V and AC110V draw 4.5 VA, AC24V draws 5.0 VA, DC24V draws 3.0 W and DC12V draws 2.5 W. Air must be filtered to 40 um or finer; no lubrication is required. No flow coefficient (Cv) or effective area is published for the 3V1 body - ask us to confirm flow for your duty.
As a 3/2 valve it controls three ports in two states, so it feeds or vents one line: single-acting (spring-return) cylinders, air-blow nozzles, clamps, and pilot stages of larger valves. It cannot drive a double-acting cylinder - that requires a five-port valve from the AirTAC 4V series. The valve has no NC/NO selector in its code: it is a normally-open type delivered in a single fixed initial state, so verify it on the datasheet. Wiring runs through the DIN plug socket, and a manual override is fitted for setup without electrical power.
