The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V106B-AM is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with 1/8 in ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
On loss of coil power the spring in the 3V106B-AM moves the valve and vents the outlet, giving the circuit a defined state whenever the DC24V supply drops - useful for clamps and nozzles that must release safely. As a 3/2 direct-acting valve it only ever feeds or vents one PT1/8 line, never two.
This individual valve runs a 3.0 W DC24V coil with an IP65 (DIN 40050) rating on the DIN-plug entry. The -AM in the code is an ordering suffix for a catalogue option: check exactly what it specifies on the datasheet or with our RFQ desk before ordering, since it is part of the product identity.

Figures follow the official AirTAC 3V1 catalogue. Confirm coil voltage and thread (PT / NPT / G) against the product label before wiring.
| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| 1/8 in | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| DC24V | Coil voltage. A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. |
| — | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
De-energising the 3.0 W coil drops the clamp instantly as the spring vents the line - a simple, predictable release path for operators.
A bench blow-gun circuit fed and vented by one valve keeps compressed air off the tip between jobs, cutting waste at the workstation.
Route a positive air signal to one branch of an automated test skid, with the spring returning the selector when the cycle ends.
Because the spring holds a defined state whenever the DC24V coil is off, this body suits circuits where the outlet must vent safely on power loss. Flow is not quantified in the catalogue - there is no Cv for 3V1 - so verify duty with us or size up to 3V2 (1/8in and 1/4in, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum rated) or 3V3 (1/4in, Cv 0.62); 3V2M serves dense manifold layouts.
Before ordering, confirm the -AM suffix option on the datasheet, then check: M5 or 1/8in port, PT (standard) or G/NPT to order, coil voltage, DIN plug or flying lead, and single valve or manifold station count. Double-acting cylinders belong on the AirTAC 4V series.

Working range 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi), media temperature -20 to 70 C, and air must pass a 40 um or finer filter. This DC24V version draws 3.0 W and meets IP65 (DIN 40050). A manual override is fitted. AirTAC lists no Cv or effective area for the 3V1 body, and the meaning of the -AM suffix should be confirmed on the datasheet before you order.
The single spring returns the valve and vents the outlet, so whatever it is feeding - a clamp, a blow nozzle or a pilot line - releases in a known way during a power cut. It remains a 3/2 device: one outlet fed or vented, never two, so double-acting cylinders need the AirTAC 4V series instead.
