The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V1M5BI is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with M5 ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
The AirTAC 3V1M5BI is an individual 3/2 direct-acting solenoid valve whose coil is supplied with a pre-wired flying lead rather than a DIN socket, so it drops into cabinets where control wires terminate on a strip. Direct acting and spring returned, it feeds or vents a single line - the job of driving single-acting cylinders, air blow, clamps or piloting a larger valve. The DC24V coil draws just 3.0 W.
An IP65 (DIN 40050) coil tolerates sealed machine environments, and a manual override assists installation and commissioning. Air for the valve should be filtered to 40 um or finer, and lubrication is not required.

Figures follow the official AirTAC 3V1 catalogue. Confirm coil voltage and thread (PT / NPT / G) against the product label before wiring.
| 3V1 | Body — sets the flow, the coil power and whether vacuum is rated. |
|---|---|
| M5 | Port size. M5, 06 = 1/8 in, 08 = 1/4 in, 10 = 3/8 in. |
| DC24V | Coil voltage. A = AC220V, B = DC24V, C = AC110V, E = AC24V, F = DC12V. |
| I | Electrical entry: I = flying lead, otherwise a DIN plug. |
| PT | Port thread. PT ships from stock; G and NPT are available to order. |
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
The pre-wired lead-out reaches the controller on an older leak-test rig that has no DIN sockets, letting a failed M5 valve be swapped without rewiring the panel.
Inside a clinical chemistry analyzer, the valve opens a purge-air line between assay cycles, drawing only 3.0 W from the instrument's 24 V rail.
The valve feeds a single-acting air gate that nudges a defective bottle off the conveyor, venting the gate line as soon as the coil drops out.
Order the 3V1M5BI once the wiring plan is clear: the I in the code means flying-lead entry, while a code without it would give a DIN plug socket. As the smallest, lowest-power body in AirTAC's 3V range, 3V1 publishes no Cv or effective area, so if flow matters, confirm the duty with us or step up to 3V2 (1/8in and 1/4in ports, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum rated) or 3V3 (1/4in, Cv 0.62); for manifold density ahead of flow, look at 3V2M.
Match five points to the job: M5 or 1/8in port; on 1/8in bodies PT is the standard thread with G and NPT available to order (M5 has no separate thread code); coil voltage; DIN plug versus flying lead; and single valve or manifold stations. For a double-acting cylinder, specify the 5-port AirTAC 4V series.
Confirm before you order
It is a 3/2 direct-acting, spring-return valve rated 0-0.8 MPa (0-114 psi) and -20 to 70 C, with IP65 coils (DIN 40050). Coil power by voltage: AC220V 4.5 VA, AC110V 4.5 VA, AC24V 5.0 VA, DC24V 3.0 W - the figure for this model - and DC12V 2.5 W. AirTAC publishes no Cv or effective area for 3V1, so treat flow as confirm-on-request.
The 3V1M5BI's flying lead is a pre-wired lead-out, handy where no DIN socket is fitted or where the coil wires route straight to a terminal strip; a code without the I would give a DIN plug socket instead. Both entries carry the same IP65 (DIN 40050) rating, and the DC24V coil here draws 3.0 W.
