
The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V1M5BI2F is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with M5 ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.
The 3V1M5BI2F ganges two M5-ported 3/2 valves on one common base, each with its own DC24V flying-lead coil. A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
Each station commands its own function on the press - one drives the single-acting slide forward, the other fires the ejection pin that clears the finished part.
Two M5 stations mount side by side to open the gripper and puff the part clear of the tooling, both spring-return so the load drops safely on power loss.
Bench rigs use paired valves to alternately pressurise and bleed a small chamber between cycles, with flying leads wired straight into a 24 V control rail.
Size this 2-station assembly by flow first. The 3V1 body is the lowest-flow member of AirTAC's 3V family and its Cv is not published, so treat flow-critical jobs with care: step up to a 3V2 (1/8 or 1/4 port, NC/NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum rated) or a 3V3 (1/4 port, Cv 0.62) when ports must pass more air, and pick 3V2M where manifold density outranks flow. A 3/2 valve will never stroke a double-acting cylinder - that is a job for the 4V series.
