
The AirTAC Airtac 3V1 Solenoid Valve 3V1M5BI3F is a genuine 3-port 2-position (3/2) solenoid valve with M5 ports. It either feeds its outlet or vents it to exhaust, which is what makes it the valve for single-acting cylinders, on/off air blow, clamping, vacuum switching and pilot duty.

A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.
One station snaps the single-acting gate to eject a faulty bottle, another blows it clear of the chute and the third pilots the counting sensor - all from one base.
A spring-return stopper blade halts cartons at the pick station while a second valve drives the pusher, venting safely whenever the PLC output drops.
Three flying-lead stations terminate straight onto PLC output terminals, giving a machine builder three 3/2 functions without DIN connectors cluttering the door.
Three stations of 3/2 control on one M5 base makes this a compact alternative to three loose valves - but check the flow budget. 3V1 has no published Cv or effective area, so for flow-critical duties compare against the 3V2 (1/8 and 1/4 ports, NC or NO selectable, Cv 0.18-0.19, rated for vacuum) or the 3V3 (1/4 port, Cv 0.62); when dense packaging matters more than flow, 3V2M is the manifold-first choice. Remember a 3/2 valve feeds or vents one line - it cannot drive a double-acting cylinder, which needs an AirTAC 4V valve.
The code settles four of the five checks: M5 port, DC24V coil, flying-lead entry, 3-station manifold. Confirm only the port family (M5 vs 1/8), the thread on 1/8 versions (PT is the family standard; G and NPT are orderable options) and the station count you actually need, from 1F up to 20F.
