About the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCB
The 3V308NCB pairs a DC24V coil with the biggest flow in AirTAC's 3V3 body: a normally closed, direct-acting 3/2 coaxial poppet valve on a 1/4in PT port that switches one line between supply and exhaust. With the coil off, the outlet is shut and the downstream side is held.
It is also a vacuum-capable choice: the body carries a -102.2 kPa to 0.1 MPa rating, so it can sit on negative-pressure lines for cup lifting or evacuation duty - a rating the smaller 3V1 does not share. The DC24V coil draws 6.5 W, and Cv 0.62 keeps restriction low on larger single-acting circuits.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Is the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCB the Right Part?
Because 3V3 is the largest 3-port body, the only sizing direction is downward: 3V2 if Cv 0.18-0.19 is enough (it is vacuum-rated as well), 3V2M at Cv 0.1 when manifold density matters more than flow, or 3V1 for minimal low-power duties. Run the five-point check: PT1/4 port (G and NPT on request), normally closed state, DC24V coil, DIN plug entry, and vacuum suitability - met here, since the 3V3 body carries the -102.2 kPa to 0.1 MPa rating. Double-acting cylinders need the 5-port 4V series instead.
