About the Airtac 3V3 Solenoid Valve 3V308NCE
3V308NCE runs its coil on AC24V, the low control voltage common on machine-tool and industrial control circuits, delivered through a DIN plug on the coil body. The valve is normally closed and direct-acting: a single solenoid against a spring, with a coaxial poppet that seats the 1/4in PT outlet until the coil is energised. Three ports mean it either feeds the line or dumps it to exhaust.
Despite the modest-looking coil, the air side is the strongest in the 3V family: Cv 0.62 lets a single 1/4in valve serve a larger single-acting cylinder or a wide blow-off nozzle. The AC24V coil is rated 10 VA, and the housing carries IP65 (DIN 40050) protection against dust and washdown splashes.

What a 3/2 Valve Does
A 3/2 valve has three ports — supply, outlet and exhaust — and two states. It either feeds the outlet or vents it to exhaust, and that is the whole job.
That makes it the right valve for a single-acting (spring-return) cylinder, on/off air blow, a clamp, switching a vacuum generator or suction cup, and piloting a larger valve.
It cannot run a double-acting cylinder. A double-acting cylinder needs air alternately on two sides, which takes a 5-port valve — the AirTAC 4V series.

Sizing from here is a downward move, since 3V3 is the top of the 3-port range. Take 3V2 (1/8in or 1/4in, Cv 0.18-0.19, vacuum-rated too) if Cv 0.62 is surplus, 3V2M (Cv 0.1) if you are filling a multi-station manifold and flow is secondary, or 3V1 for the smallest duties (3.0 W on DC24V). Before ordering, settle five items: port and thread (PT1/4 standard, G and NPT available as order options), initial state (NC here), coil voltage (AC24V on this code), electrical entry (DIN plug), and any vacuum involvement in the duty. Double-acting cylinders call for the 5-port AirTAC 4V family instead.
