About the AirTAC 4V410-15 Solenoid Valve, 4V400 Series (4V41015BG-W)
The 4V41015BG-W is AirTAC's 4V400 flagship 5/2-way single-solenoid valve in the external-pilot (-W) build, fitted with a 1/2in G (BSPP parallel) port and a DC24V coil drawing 3.0W through a terminal box. It directs compressed air to double-acting cylinders and actuators: energise the solenoid and the spool shifts to extend the cylinder; cut the signal and the spring returns the spool, sending pressure to the rod side to retract it. Because the pilot air is fed through a separate external pilot port rather than tapped internally from the main line, the spool still shifts cleanly even when main-line pressure is low or the circuit runs under vacuum or reduced supply conditions.
This is the highest-flow 4V body AirTAC makes, with an effective area of 48 mm2 (Cv 2.82) and a maximum cycling rate of 3 cycles per second, so it comfortably drives cylinder bores in the ~O80-125 mm class. Activation time is 0.05 s or better, and the complete valve weighs just 590 g. Like every 4V400 valve it is IP65 protected, runs on 0.15-0.8 MPa of air filtered by a 40 um element, needs no lubrication, and can be banked into an integrated manifold on a common base.

Size the valve so effective area / Cv is not the bottleneck for your cylinder bore and speed. Undersized valves slow the actuator. Note 5/3 (center) versions have a smaller effective area than the 5/2 of the same body size.

Match your cylinder bore first. At Cv 2.82 this valve is sized for large bores around O80-125 mm; if your cylinder is O63 or smaller, the 4V300 (Cv 1.65) will cycle it faster and cheaper, while this body would be oversized. If your application moves even more air than the 4V400 class, you are beyond the 4V range and should move to a larger valve series or a manifold arrangement. Choose this -W external-pilot version when your supply pressure can dip, when the valve sits downstream of a vacuum generator, or when you want pilot supply isolated from main-line fluctuations; on stable full-pressure lines the standard internally-piloted 4V410-15BG does the same job.
