Size the valve so effective area / Cv is not the bottleneck for your cylinder bore and speed. Undersized valves slow the actuator. Note 5/3 (center) versions have a smaller effective area than the 5/2 of the same body size.

The exhaust center lets operators freely move a large pneumatic slide or clamp during part changeover, as both sides of the cylinder are vented to atmosphere when the valve is at rest.
When a guard opens, de-energising both solenoids instantly dumps air from the cylinder, removing stored energy so the actuator cannot drift under residual pressure.
Controls lift-assist or pusher arms on conveyors. The floating center allows the arm to be manually repositioned during jam clearing without fighting trapped air pressure.
