Pick the pressure-center 30P version when the actuator should stay pressurized on both sides in neutral - a state where the cylinder resists being driven but is not rigidly locked the way a closed-center 30C valve locks it. For guaranteed holding of a suspended or hazardous load, add pilot-operated check valves at the cylinder ports or a mechanical brake; no directional valve alone should carry that duty. If your cylinder is under O80 mm bore, the 4V300 body (Cv 1.65) is the more economical step down; for flow beyond the 4V400 class, move up to a larger valve series or gang several valves on a common manifold base.
