This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE16X175S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE16X175S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP16X175S is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 175mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE16X175S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder in the DIN-standard ACP series, the ACP16X175S carries the optional -S magnet and delivers 100.5 N of push force and 75.4 N of pull force at 0.5 MPa (rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa). Its 16 mm bore drives an 8 mm rod from an M5x0.8 port, and the hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod runs at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and 30-500 mm/s. Note the 175 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore, so it is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits narrow guarding and slim slides. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke sensing. For a practical sizing check, plan on about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACE16X175, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE16X175S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACE16X175S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×175 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE or DMSE switch confirm full extension of the 175 mm rod on a small machine guard, with 100.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa enough to seat the latch.
About 5 kg of vertical-lift equivalent makes this 16 mm bore a fit for nudging cartons or blisters off a conveyor lane where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
The short body and M5x0.8 port suit tight instrument decks; 75.4 N of pull at 0.5 MPa retracts trays or vials back to a sensed home position.
At 16 mm bore you sit between the 12 mm size (56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) and the 20 mm size (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa), so step up if your load needs more than about 60 N of working force. The 175 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard maximum for this bore, so expect a made-to-order build. The fixed TPU bumper only decelerates the piston at each end and will not hold a load when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check valve if you need position holding. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face, and the female M4x0.7 rod thread takes standard I/Y knuckles. Order the ACE16X175 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N. The theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa is 20.5 kgf. In practice plan on roughly 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, about 5 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 175 mm stroke is a non-standard made-to-order length for this bore.
The ACP family is out of production; the current drop-in is the ACE16X175, which matches the same 16 mm bore, 175 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP was built to a DIN standard while the ACE follows ISO 21287, confirm the mounting dimensions before swapping. This ACP16X175S already carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke detection.
