About the Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP20X100S
The ACP20X100S is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 100 mm stroke, rated at 157.1 N push and 117.8 N pull at 0.5 MPa (219.9 N / 164.9 N at 0.7 MPa, 32 kgf theoretical maximum). Its hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rod are built to the ISO 21287 short-body format, which saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. The S in the code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the tube for end-of-stroke sensing.
Practical sizing: at 0.5 MPa the push force of 157.1 N translates to about 16 kg of theoretical lift, and planning around 9 kg vertical (roughly 60% of the rating) leaves a sensible margin for friction and side load. The fixed TPU bumpers at both ends simply decelerate the piston at each end of travel - they do not hold or brake a load, so use a rod lock or pilot check valve where a lost-air position must be maintained. Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACE20X100, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACP was built to the older DIN standard.
