This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE25X160B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE25X160B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X160B

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X160B is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 160mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE25X160B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X160B

The ACP25X160B is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 25 mm bore and a 160 mm stroke, driving a 10 mm rod through a male thread (the B code). At 0.5 MPa it pushes 245.4 N and pulls 206.2 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 343.6 N and 288.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 50.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Applying a 0.6 rule of thumb to the push force, plan on roughly 147 N of usable work, which is about 15 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding.

Note that the 160 mm stroke is beyond the 150 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries M5x0.8 ports, the S45C hard-chrome rod resists wear, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. This model has no magnet fitted; order the -S code if you need CMSE or DMSE switch sensing. The ACP family is discontinued, and the current-production replacement is the ACE25X160 in the same bore, stroke and force class.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE25X160B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø25mm)

PressurePush forcePull force
0.5 MPa245 N206 N
0.7 MPa344 N289 N

The ACE25X160B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Where the Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X160B Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Compact jig clamping

The 245.4 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps small machined aluminium brackets in drilling jigs, and the short body fits where a full-length cylinder cannot.

conveyor_belt

Packaging line push-off

At 30-500 mm/s the 160 mm stroke sweeps cartons off a conveyor lane, with the male rod thread suiting custom pusher paddles.

vertical_align_bottom

Small parts lift and lower

With a 2:1 margin the bore 25 lift capacity is about 15 kg vertically, enough for lowering sensor housings into a test nest.

Replacing the Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X160B with the ACE25X160B

Size the bore to the load: if 245.4 N of push at 0.5 MPa is more than you need, the 20 mm bore delivers 157.1 N; if you need more, step up to the 32 mm bore at 402.1 N. Remember that a plain ACP does not hold position when air is lost - for a suspended load add a rod lock or pilot check valve. Mounting options include FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. Since the ACP is discontinued, order the ACE25X160 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP was built to the DIN standard.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACE25X160B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X160B FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 245.4 N and pulls 206.2 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 343.6 N and pulls 288.6 N. The theoretical maximum is 50.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 160 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 150 mm standard maximum for this bore.

Yes, but only with the optional -S magnet code, which allows CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches; this model without -S carries no magnet. The ACP family is discontinued, so for new projects order the ACE25X160, the current ISO 21287 successor in the same bore, stroke and force class, and confirm its mounting dimensions against your fixture first.
