This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE40X225S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE40X225S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP40X225S is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 225mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE40X225S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting on both strokes, the ACP40X225S is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 40 mm bore and a made-to-order 225 mm stroke - 25 mm beyond the 200 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is built to order. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 628.3 N and pulls 571.8 N; a practical rule of thumb is to plan real work at roughly 60% of the push rating, so about 377 N (near 38 kg of horizontal force) for a margin-safe design.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is how it fits deep guards and long-stroke gantries that a full-length body cannot. This S-coded unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches mount directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body. The ACP family is discontinued: the current drop-in is ACE40X225, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE40X225S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 628 N | 572 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 880 N | 800 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 128 kgf | |
The ACE40X225S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 40 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×225 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Lifts about 32 kg of filled cartons or trays vertically with a 2:1 margin, using the 628.3 N push at 0.5 MPa and the 225 mm made-to-order stroke for tall chutes.
The 628.3 N push at 0.5 MPa clears bottles or cans sideways off a conveyor, while the short body tucks under the guard rail where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches report extend and retract positions on the 225 mm stroke, useful for end-of-travel confirmation on automated fixtures.
Size both ways before committing: a 32 mm bore gives 402.1 N push at 0.5 MPa, while a 50 mm bore raises it to 981.7 N - pick the 40 mm when your load sits between those bands. For vertical use, the 628.3 N push equals about 64 kgf, so halve it and plan to lift roughly 32 kg with a 2:1 margin. A plain cylinder drifts when air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must hold. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mount on the same face; the 225 mm stroke is non-standard and made to order. Order ACE40X225 as the current-production replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the cylinder pushes 628.3 N and pulls 571.8 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 879.6 N push and 800.5 N pull. The theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa is 128.1 kgf. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed range 30-500 mm/s. Note the 225 mm stroke exceeds the 200 mm standard limit for a 40 mm bore, so it is a made-to-order length.
No - the ACP family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACE40X225: swap the P for an E and you get the same 40 mm bore, 225 mm stroke and force class in an ISO 21287 compact body. Because the ACP was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and port positions before ordering the swap. The fixed TPU bumpers at both ends simply decelerate the piston; they do not hold a load, so add a rod lock or check valve where holding is required.
