This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED80X70B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED80X70B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X70B is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 70mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED80X70B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD80X70B pushes and pulls with identical output because each stroke works on the rod-side area: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, equal in both directions. The 20 mm through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mounting face, and lets the rear rod carry a sensor flag or a second tool. Air supply runs 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof limit, and speed spans 30-500 mm/s.
This 80 mm bore unit is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACED80X70 in the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight gantries and press fixtures. Plan on roughly 1414 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 72 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. FA/FB flange and LB foot brackets bolt straight to the face, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED80X70B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2356 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3299 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 481 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa in both directions suits a stamping or riveting head on a short-stroke press where the 70 mm stroke cycles a die in and out of a tight fixture.
A rod on each cover lets the gate mount from either side of the frame; the through-rod keeps the 20 mm piston rod from rotating as the gate slides at up to 500 mm/s.
With about 72 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the cylinder drives a clamp arm that grips palletized loads on a warehouse transfer line.
At 2356.2 N per direction, the 80 mm bore sits between the 63 mm (1458.1 N) and 100 mm (3681.6 N) sizes at 0.5 MPa - step down for lighter clamping, up if you need over 3.6 kN. The 70 mm stroke is well inside the 300 mm standard limit for this bore. Because a plain double-rod cylinder drifts when air is lost, add a rod lock or pilot check for held loads. The B code gives a male rod thread; order the -S version if you want the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, since this model has none. For new builds, specify the ACED80X70 instead.
Replacement checklist
Both strokes give the same figure because the rod-side area works in each direction: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a maximum of 480.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. The 1/4" port serves the 80 mm bore, and the B code means a male rod thread on the 20 mm rod.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 short format, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting. The ACPD80X70B is discontinued; the ACED80X70 is the current drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, and order the -S code if you need the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
