This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED80X90SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED80X90SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X90SB is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 90mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED80X90SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD80X90SB pushes and pulls with identical output: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa in either direction, because each stroke works on the rod-side area. The 80 mm bore with a 20 mm through-rod resists rotation and side load, and the rear rod is a handy carrier for a sensor flag. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight gantries and guarded stations. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries a S45C hard-chrome rod, and the male rod thread (B code) with 1/4" PT ports keeps plumbing simple. Note that this ACPD series is discontinued; the current-production successor is the ACED80X90, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 1414 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which is roughly 144 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED80X90SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2356 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3299 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 481 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The through-rod drives a pusher bar from one side while the rear rod balances the mount, moving pallets of about 140 kg on a bottling line at 30-500 mm/s.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE switches on both rods confirm extend and retract on a packaging gantry where the short body must fit inside the guard.
The 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa both ways suits a light press-fit or staking assist on electronics assemblies, with the male thread taking an I knuckle.
If 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa is more than the job needs, the 63 mm bore delivers 1458.1 N in the same double-rod format; if you need more, the 100 mm bore reaches 3681.6 N. Remember that a plain double-rod cylinder drifts when air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check for held loads. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the -S magnet on this unit pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACED80X90 as the current drop-in and verify the ISO 21287 hole pattern first.
Replacement checklist
Yes. Because a rod exits both covers, both strokes use the rod-side area: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, equal push and pull, with a maximum of 480.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 1/4" PT ports serve the 80 mm bore.
The ACPD family is no longer in production. The current-production drop-in is the ACED80X90 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 80 mm bore, 90 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ACP was DIN-standard.
