This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X10-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X10-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X10-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X10-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X10-10B uses a 12 mm bore and a 10 mm base stroke that a stop screw trims anywhere in the 0-10 mm range via the -10 window. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) gives a 6 mm rod you can screw straight into your tooling. Note: this model is discontinued - the current drop-in is ACEJ12X10, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim pick-and-place heads and cramped fixtures. Plan on about 34 N (roughly 2.8 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of usable force rather than the full 56.5 N rating. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and the body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod. No magnet is fitted on this version; order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X10-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X10-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims a 0-10 mm extend stroke to nudge small machined pins off a fixture, with the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough for gram-range parts.
The short body fits inside a benchtop go/no-go gauge where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would not; add the -S magnet code if switch feedback is needed later.
Male 6 mm rod thread screws directly into a press head to seat sample-plate lids using about 34 N of practical working force.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this 12 mm bore covers light clamping and part-presenting tasks; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) if your load creeps past about 34 N of real work. The 0-10 mm adjustable range only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Since ACPJ is discontinued, spec ACEJ12X10 for new builds and verify mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Bore is 12 mm, stroke 10 mm adjustable over a 0-10 mm window, rod 6 mm with male thread, port M5x0.8 (PT), speed 30-500 mm/s, pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi).
The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere from 0 to 10 mm, though it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 10 mm. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X10 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
