This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X10-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X10-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X10-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X10-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued ACPJ12X10-10S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -10 code gives a 10 mm trim window, so a stop screw shortens the 10 mm stroke on site to any usable range from 0 to 10 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Air runs at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and rod speed from 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. In practice, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the push rating), which lifts about 3 kg vertically - halve that for a 2:1 margin and match parts under 1.5 kg. The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches, the fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends, and the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X10 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X10-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X10-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10 mm trimmed stroke and fitted magnet let a CMSE switch confirm a small electronic component has seated in a test nest, cycling at up to 500 mm/s.
With 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, the 12 mm bore ejects light plastic caps or pins from a fixture on a dial-table machine where a longer body will not fit.
The 0-10 mm stop-screw window lets a jig builder dial in the exact clamp travel for sensor housings, with the TPU bumper softening each end stop.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push at the same pressure, or drop to it from the 20 mm bore (157.1 N) when space is tight. Note the adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Female M3x0.5 rod thread, PT ports, FA/LB mounting, and the optional -S magnet (fitted on this model) for CMSE / DMSE switches. Discontinued: order the ACEJ12X10 as the current-production equivalent.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 12 mm bore has a 6 mm rod, M5x0.8 ports, M3x0.5 female rod thread, a 10 mm stroke with a 10 mm adjustment window, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), -20 to +70 C, speed 30-500 mm/s, and fixed TPU bumpers both ends. This model is discontinued - the ACEJ12X10 is the current replacement.
An external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 10 mm window, so the effective range is 0-10 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 10 mm. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ12X10 successor against your fixture.
