This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X10-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X10-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X10-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X10-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X10-10 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -10 code gives a 10 mm window, so a stop screw trims the 10 mm stroke anywhere from 0 to 10 mm on site. It is a DIN-standard short-body unit, not an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the hard-anodized aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - ideal where a 12 mm bore must fit inside a tight jig or guard. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
Practically, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 3 kg vertically - halve that to around 1.5 kg if you want a 2:1 margin when matching a part weight. The rod is 6 mm with a female M3x0.5 thread, the port is M5x0.8, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. Note this model is DISCONTINUED: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X10 (swap the P for an E), so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. Also note the adjuster is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it never holds a load.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X10-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X10-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10 mm adjustable stroke (trimmable 0-10 mm) seats a probe block onto small circuit boards; 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough for light hold-down without damaging components.
A 6 mm rod with M3x0.5 female thread drives a knockout pin that pushes a pressed bushing out of a locating nest; the short body fits where a full-length cylinder cannot.
Order the -S version with a CMSE or DMSE switch to confirm the gate is fully extended before the filler nozzle fires; the 12 mm bore reacts fast at 30-500 mm/s.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your clamp or eject job, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa); if 56.5 N is far more than needed, the same ACPJ family starts at this 12 mm bore, so this is already the smallest force class. Match the mounting to the fixture - FA/FB flange or LB foot bolt to the standard face, with I/Y knuckles available for the 6 mm rod. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant: without the optional -S magnet code there is no magnet and no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted. Replacement: order the ACEJ12X10, the current ISO 21287 successor in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 10 mm extend stroke within that window, giving a usable range of 0-10 mm. It shortens the stroke only - it never extends past the ordered 10 mm, and it is a mechanical stop, not a load-holding lock. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
No - the ACPJ12X10-10 is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X10, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same 12 mm bore, 10 mm stroke and force class. The ACP is DIN-standard, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions (FA/FB flange or LB foot hole pattern) before swapping. The replacement keeps the M5x0.8 port and the 6 mm rod, and the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE switches just like the original.
