This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with adjustable stroke, the ACPJ12X100-100B runs on a 12 mm bore and delivers 56.5 N of push force and 42.4 N of pull force at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa). The -100 code sets a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 100 mm range, so one cylinder can be tuned on the machine without swapping parts. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the B code gives a male rod thread. Plan on roughly 34 N (about 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick finished caps or connectors off a mold nest, and the 100 mm adjustment window lets the operator dial the eject travel to the cavity depth.
A stop screw trimmed to the exact lane width diverts vials or cartons at up to 500 mm/s, and the short body slots into the narrow gap between conveyor frames.
About 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin seats microplates or press-fit caps gently, and the male rod thread takes an I-type knuckle for aligned push motion.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N or the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N if the load needs more headroom. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Mounting uses FA/FB flange or LB foot on the ISO 21287 face, and position sensing requires the optional -S magnet code to work with CMSE / DMSE switches; this unit has no S code, so no magnet is fitted. Order the ACEJ12X100 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere in the 0-100 mm range. It is a mechanical end stop only, so on air loss the piston still drifts. The 100 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore (50 mm max standard) and is made to order. The model is discontinued; the ACEJ12X100 is the current replacement.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting on the standard face. A fixed TPU bumper decelerates the piston at both ends. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet code with CMSE / DMSE switches - this unit has no S code, so no magnet is fitted and no sensor can be mounted. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with a male thread.
