This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-100SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-100SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-100SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-100SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X100-100SB is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 100 mm stroke trimmed by an external stop screw. The -100 code gives a full 100 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be set anywhere from 0 to 100 mm on site. This unit carries the -S magnet and the B male rod thread, and it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight test fixtures and small assembly heads. Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the push rating), which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note the 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-100SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-100SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa is enough to eject microplate samples or slide trays from a compact analytical station, with the stroke trimmed to the exact tray depth.
Light press work such as seating pins into PCB connectors suits the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, and the male rod thread takes an I knuckle for a floating joint.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract positions on a 0-100 mm indexing slide inside a guard where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push or the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N push at the same pressure if your part weight grows. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston can still drift on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and CMSE or DMSE switches mount because the -S magnet is fitted on this model. Order the ACEJ12X100 as the current drop-in replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 100 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12.
A stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable 0-100 mm range; it is an end stop, not a load-holding lock. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the ACEJ12X100 is the current-production ISO 21287 replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the mounting dimensions before swapping.
