This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued ACPJ12X100-10S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 90-100 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), running on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air at 30-500 mm/s. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order item.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, slides and pick stations. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a female M3x0.5 thread, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the tube. Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push force), which lifts about 3 kg vertically - halve that for a 2:1 margin on a real part. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light stamped parts off a die table, and the 90-100 mm adjustable range lets the operator dial the eject position without re-machining the stop.
With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE switch signals gate-open or part-present on a PCB transfer shuttle, while the compact body fits between conveyor frames where a full-length cylinder cannot.
The 6 mm hard-chrome rod and M3x0.5 female thread drive a light sample tray through a 90-100 mm stroke at 30-500 mm/s, with TPU bumpers quieting the ends of each cycle.
Size up or down by force: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N, while this 12 mm unit suits light clamps and small slides at 56.5 N. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston mid-stroke, so on air loss the rod still drifts; use a separate valve or lock for holding. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the ACEJ12X100 as the current replacement and verify the mounting footprint against your fixture first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 10 mm adjustment window on the 100 mm extend stroke, runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 30-500 mm/s, M5x0.8 ports and a female M3x0.5 rod thread. The 100 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard for this bore.
It is a compact short-body cylinder whose mounting length is about 50% less than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange and LB foot options on the ISO 21287 face and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
