This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X100-10SB is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder: 12 mm bore, 100 mm stroke, 6 mm male-threaded rod and M5x0.8 ports. It delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 90-100 mm range. Note the 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim jigs and guarded assemblies. Because roughly 60% of the push force is usable in practice, plan for about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa - enough to lift around 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The magnet fitted under the -S code accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Ejects small machined pins or pressed parts from a fixture with about 34 N of usable push force at 0.5 MPa, trimmed to 90-100 mm via the stop screw.
The fitted -S magnet drives CMSE or DMSE switches to confirm the extend position on electronics test fixtures running 30-500 mm/s.
Advances sample trays or vials in compact analytical equipment where the short body fits where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this 12 mm bore covers light clamping and part presence checks; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) for roughly double the force or down only if your load is under about 30 N. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock - the rod can still drift on air loss, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches round out the spec. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X100 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8. In practice budget about 34 N (roughly 2.9 kg vertical lift with margin) for real work at 0.5 MPa.
The -10 code sets a 10 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable 90-100 mm range. It shortens the stroke only - it never extends it past the ordered value and it is not a load-holding brake. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ12X100 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.
