This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-20B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X100-20B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke by up to 20 mm, giving a usable range of 80-100 mm on site. This 12 mm bore unit delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP follows the DIN standard.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures, guards and gantry arms. A useful sizing rule: about 0.6 of the push force, roughly 34 N, is realistic working output at 0.5 MPa - which corresponds to lifting about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. The B code gives a male rod thread; the magnet is the optional -S code and is not fitted here, so no CMSE / DMSE switch can be mounted on this version.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-20B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 80-100 mm adjustable extend range and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa eject finished micro-components from light nests without disturbing the fixture.
With the optional -S magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches, the 100 mm stroke (trimmable by 20 mm) indexes covers or shields at 30-500 mm/s with end-position feedback.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside compact analyzer frames, while the male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle-linked sample trays.
Compare both directions before committing: bore 16 pushes 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa for heavier clamps, while this 12 mm bore at 56.5 N push / 42.4 N pull suits light fixtures. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant to enable CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X100 instead, which matches this bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code is a 20 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke to any length from 80 to 100 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8. The 100 mm stroke is non-standard for bore 12 (standard maximum is 50 mm), so it is made to order.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends that only decelerate at the ends of travel - they never lock or hold a load. The body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. This ACPJ model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X100 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP follows the DIN standard.
