This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-40B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-40B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-40B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-40B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X100-40B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke by up to 40 mm, giving a usable range of 60-100 mm. Air drives the rod in both directions, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at each end. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. In practice, budget about 34 N of the push force for real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, the B code gives a male rod thread, and this model is discontinued - the current drop-in is ACEJ12X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-40B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-40B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 60-100 mm trimmed extend stroke and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit light crimp and stake operations on small PCB connectors and terminal blocks.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, ejects bushings or caps from nest fixtures under a low headroom gantry.
With a male rod thread (B code) and 30-500 mm/s speed range, it drives a light probe or gauge slide across a 60-100 mm window in an electronics test fixture.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force step in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push, or drop to a smaller actuator only if your load is under about 34 N. Note that the stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate valve or clamp if you need position holding. This unit has no magnet because the -S code was not ordered; add -S if you later want CMSE or DMSE switches. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings fit the standard face. For new projects, order the current ACEJ12X100 instead and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It runs double acting on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with male thread, and fixed TPU bumpers both ends. The 100 mm stroke is non-standard (bore 12 standard tops out at 50 mm) and is made to order.
The -40 code is a 40 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within it, so the rod travels 60-100 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 100 mm, and the stop is not a load-holding brake. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X100 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
