This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X100-50B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, built to the DIN-standard short-body format. Air drives the rod out and pulls it back, and a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke anywhere inside the 50 mm adjustment window, giving a usable range of 50-100 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and guarded assemblies. Practical sizing: about 34 N (roughly 3.4 kgf) is a realistic working force at 0.5 MPa, so it lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for small covers, chutes or sensor flags. The rod ends in a male thread (the B code), the port is M5x0.8, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to nudge machined bushings or stamped clips off a nest, and the 50-100 mm adjustable range lets the operator tune the eject travel without re-plumbing.
The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits inside tight guarding where a full-length body cannot, driving lightweight shields or deflectors.
With about 3 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the 12 mm bore raises small trays or vial racks, and the male rod thread (B code) accepts I/Y knuckles for linkages.
Size both ways before committing: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N feels marginal, while staying at 12 mm keeps the envelope smallest. The 50 mm window suits applications where the extend stroke is tuned on site, but the stop is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding device. No magnet is fitted on this version (no -S code), so CMSE or DMSE switches cannot be used; order an -S variant if sensing is needed. For new designs, specify the ACEJ12X100 instead - same bore, stroke and force class, currently in production.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable extend range is 50-100 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 100 mm, and the stop is not a mid-stroke lock - the piston still drifts if air is lost.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod, M5x0.8 ports, a fixed TPU bumper at both ends and a male rod thread from the B code. Speed runs 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). The magnet is the optional -S code - this version has none, so CMSE / DMSE switches cannot be fitted. The model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
