This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-50S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50S

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-50S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50S

Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X100-50S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 100 mm stroke that a stop screw can trim by up to 50 mm, giving a usable extend range of 50-100 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Its hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.

The -50 window is set on site: screw the external stop in to shorten the extend stroke, never to lengthen it past 100 mm. The stop is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not treat it as a load-holding brake. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate both ends, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Because the ACPJ line is discontinued, plan the swap to the current-production ACEJ12X100, which matches this bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first. For sizing, expect roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa and a vertical lift of about 2.9 kg with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-50S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50S Is Used

tune

Stop-trimmed ejection in a small fixture

A 50-100 mm adjustable extend window lets a fixture builder dial in the exact eject position on a compact electronics assembly jig without swapping cylinders.

sensors

Position-checked slide on a lab automation cell

With the fitted magnet and a CMSE switch, the 12 mm bore drives a light slide at 30-500 mm/s and confirms home and end positions on a compact benchtop machine.

compress

Low-force clamping of delicate parts

About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa suits holding thin PCBs or small plastic housings during a marking or testing step where heavier bores would deform the part.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50S with the ACEJ12X100-50S

Size both ways: if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is more than your jig needs, the bore 12 class is already the smallest here, so step down in stroke instead; if you need more, the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting to your fixture and order CMSE or DMSE switches only because this unit carries the -S magnet. Since ACPJ is discontinued, quote the ACEJ12X100 as the drop-in successor and verify ISO 21287 hole patterns before ordering.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X100-50S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke on site, so the working range is 50-100 mm. It trims the stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, and the piston still drifts if air is lost. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s.

No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100, the ISO 21287 successor with the same 12 mm bore, 100 mm stroke and force class. Because ACP was DIN-standard while ACE is ISO 21287, confirm the mounting dimensions and FA/FB or LB hole pattern before swapping. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted; on a replacement without -S there is no magnet.
