This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X100-50 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the ordered 100 mm stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 50-100 mm on site. This 12 mm bore size delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), running on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with speeds of 30-500 mm/s. Note that the 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M3x0.5 thread. As a working figure, plan on roughly 34 N of real push force at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of rating), which lifts around 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X100-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X100-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa nudges finished clips or caps off a benchtop mold, and the 50-100 mm adjustable range lets the operator set the exact eject position per tool.
A short-stroke gate stops single components on a vibration feeder; with the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm gate open and closed.
About 1.7 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin suits pressing microplate lids or dip-probes, with the stop screw trimming extend travel between 50 and 100 mm.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N or bore 20 for 157.1 N if the load needs more headroom. The 50 mm adjustment window suits stations where the final extend position is tuned during commissioning, but remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, and the rod will drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this code has no magnet fitted. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X100 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 100 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 50 mm. It runs double acting on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air at 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange and LB foot options on the standard face and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X100 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
