This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X100-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X100-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-75

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X100-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-75

This discontinued AirTAC model is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder: a 12 mm bore driving a 6 mm rod through a 100 mm stroke, with a stop screw that trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the 75 mm window, giving a usable range of 25-100 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot.

Practical sizing: plan on about 34 N (roughly 0.6 of the 56.5 N push) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and an M5x0.8 port; speed runs 30-500 mm/s across 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). No magnet is fitted on this code, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted unless you order the optional -S version. Since the ACPJ line is discontinued, the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-75 Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Small-part ejection from fixtures

The 25-100 mm trim range lets a jig builder dial the exact eject stroke for 20-30 mm plastic caps off a machining fixture, using the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa without touching the mechanical stop between batches.

sensors

Label or stamping head on packaging lines

A light print or stamp head weighing under 3 kg can be lifted vertically within the 2:1 margin of the 34 N usable force, with the stop screw set so the head never over-travels into the label web.

compress

Micro press-fit of connectors

Pushing small pins into PCB connectors suits the 79.2 N available at 0.7 MPa; the 75 mm window covers different board heights, and the fixed TPU bumpers quiet the return at 30-500 mm/s.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-75 with the ACEJ12X100-75

At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). If 56.5 N is generous for the job, there is no smaller ACPJ bore, so consider a lighter mechanism or lower pressure. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot on the standard face; the rod end here is a female M3x0.5 thread with PT ports. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X100 instead, as this model is discontinued.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X100-75
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X100-75 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice budget about 34 N (0.6 of the push) for real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The 100 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the standard maximum for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm, and the -75 window lets the stop screw trim the extend stroke to anywhere between 25 and 100 mm.

An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke within the ordered 75 mm window; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 100 mm, and it is a mechanical end stop only - it never locks or holds a load if air is lost. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X100 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 family. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard. Also note no magnet is fitted on this code - the optional -S version is required for CMSE or DMSE switches.
