This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X110-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X110-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -10 code gives a 10 mm stop-screw window, so the 110 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 100 to 110 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, which works out to roughly 34 N of usable work force with a sensible margin, or about 2.9 kg of vertical lift at a 2:1 ratio. The 110 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, letting it slot into slim fixtures, guarding and pick stations. Construction is a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, a female M3x0.5 rod thread and M5x0.8 ports. No magnet is fitted on this version; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. Running spec: 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), 30-500 mm/s, -20 to +70 C.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X110-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X110-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick finished caps or bushings out of shallow mold pockets, and the 10 mm trim window lets the setter dial the eject point without shimming.
A short probing stroke for verifying a PCB or connector is seated; with the optional -S magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches the end positions can be signalled back to the PLC.
About 34 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa presses small dowels or terminals into plastic housings, while the compact body fits inside tight fixture plates.
Size the load first: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping and part-presenting tasks up to about 2.9 kg vertical lift with margin; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) or 20 mm bore (157.1 N push) if the job needs more. The stop screw only trims the extend stroke within the 10 mm window and does not lock the piston, so do not rely on it to hold a load when air is lost. If you need position feedback, order the -S magnet variant and pair it with CMSE / DMSE switches. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings are available. Since this unit is discontinued, plan the swap to the ACEJ12X110 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before retrofitting.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 12 mm bore uses M5x0.8 ports, a 6 mm rod with female M3x0.5 thread, runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air at 30-500 mm/s, and the -10 code allows the 110 mm extend stroke to be trimmed by up to 10 mm. This stroke is made to order, since the standard maximum for bore 12 is 50 mm.
The short-body build saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits slim gantries and fixture plates. It is a discontinued ACPJ, and the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X110 in the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP series follows the DIN-standard footprint.
