This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X110-20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X110-20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-20B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110-20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X110-20B is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 110 mm stroke trimmed by a 20 mm stop-screw window, giving a usable extend range of 90-110 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
The 110 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order. A practical planning figure: count on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a male thread (the B code), fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a speed band of 30-500 mm/s. Note that no magnet is fitted - the optional -S code is required before any CMSE / DMSE switch can be used. For new projects, the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X110; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP family is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X110-20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X110-20B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light aluminium or plastic parts off a locating pin, and the 90-110 mm adjustable range lets the operator dial the eject distance without re-fixturing.
With about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder saved, this 12 mm bore slides a light guard or gate inside a crowded electronics test bench; add the -S magnet code if CMSE / DMSE end-position sensing is needed later.
The theoretical 11.5 kgf ceiling at 1.0 MPa covers gentle pressing of sample vials or lids, and the 2.8 kg vertical-lift margin (with a 2:1 factor) matches typical consumable tray weights.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is more than your jig needs, the smaller-bore class starts below this model; if 56.5 N is marginal, step up to the 16 mm bore, which delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa. Remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread (B) suits external knuckles. This model is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X110 as the current drop-in and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so the 110 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere in a 90-110 mm range. Because the 110 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, this unit is a made-to-order item. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with a male thread.
It is a short-body compact cylinder in the ISO 21287 class - hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends - taking about 50% less mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt straight to the standard face. No magnet is fitted on this version; the optional -S code enables CMSE / DMSE switch mounting. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, as the ACP is DIN-standard.
