This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X110-20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X110-20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-20SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110-20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This 12 mm bore unit is double acting, with air driving the rod in both directions, and its -20 code adds a 20 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the 110 mm extend stroke down to 90 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N and 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa. The 110 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. A male rod thread (B code) and the -S magnet, which accepts CMSE / DMSE switches, are fitted.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding. For sizing, treat roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the push force) as the practical working effort at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X110, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X110-20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X110-20SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 90-110 mm adjustable extend stroke nudges finished caps or clips off a mold face, with 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa enough for lightweight parts.
The fitted -S magnet works with CMSE or DMSE switches to confirm rod position in electronics test rigs, while the stop screw sets the exact approach point.
About 34 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa presses labels or date stamps onto cartons, and the short body fits the tight headspace above the conveyor.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this bore 12 suits light clamping and positioning; step up to bore 16 (100.5 N) or bore 20 (157.1 N) for heavier work. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. This model is discontinued; order ACEJ12X110 as the drop-in and verify mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with male thread. The 110 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
A stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 20 mm, giving a usable range of 90-110 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 110 mm. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. This ACPJ is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X110 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard.
