This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X110-40B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X110-40B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110-40B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X110-40B uses a 12 mm bore and a 110 mm stroke that a stop screw trims by up to 40 mm, giving a usable range of 70-110 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N. The 110 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so this is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACP series is DIN-standard.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures, test rigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a male thread (the B code), and the port is M5x0.8. No magnet is fitted on this version - the optional -S code is what enables CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X110-40B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X110-40B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 70-110 mm trim range and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit ejecting sample trays or slides from compact analytical and testing instruments.
Light ejection of connectors, pins or stamped parts off an assembly fixture, where the 2.9 kg vertical-lift equivalent covers typical component weights.
Low-force clamping of PCBs or small housings in a slim jig, with the short body fitting where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder is too long.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this bore 12 unit suits light clamping and part-presenting duty; step up to bore 16 (100.5 N push) or bore 20 (157.1 N push) if the load is heavier. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Mount with FA/FB flange or LB foot hardware on the ISO 21287 face. This model is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X110 as the drop-in successor and verify mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm male thread. The 110 mm stroke is a made-to-order size above the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12.
The -40 code gives a 40 mm window: a stop screw shortens the 110 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 70 mm on site. It is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. Sensing requires the optional -S magnet code, which allows CMSE / DMSE switches; this B-version has no magnet fitted. The model is discontinued, so spec the ACEJ12X110 as the current replacement.
