This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X110-40S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X110-40S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40S

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110-40S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40S

This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: bore 12 mm, ordered stroke 110 mm, and a 40 mm adjustment window set by the -40 code. A stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere in the 70-110 mm range, so one cylinder can be dialled to several jig positions without changing parts. Air works on both faces of the piston, and a fixed TPU bumper at each end absorbs end-of-travel impact. Note that the 110 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is a made-to-order build.

At 0.5 MPa the piston pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. As a planning rule, about 34 N (roughly 3 kg of thrust) is a realistic working figure at 0.5 MPa, so treat it as a light-duty actuator for small clamps and sensors-check fixtures. The hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the mounting length about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X110-40S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40S Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Small-part ejector on an assembly bench

The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to eject pressed-in nylon bushings or light stamped parts from a fixture, while the 70-110 mm adjustable range lets one cylinder serve several die positions.

sensors

Position-checked go/no-go gauge station

With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE switch flags full extension of the 110 mm stroke before a vision check or label head fires, catching mis-loaded workpieces on a small electronics line.

compress

Light hold-down on a PCB test fixture

About 3 kg of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa clamps a circuit board flat against pogo-pin pins without damaging components, and the stop screw sets the exact clamp height per board revision.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40S with the ACEJ12X110-40S

Size up or down by force: a 16 mm bore of the same family gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while stepping to 20 mm reaches 157.1 N, so pick the 12 mm bore only when your load stays under roughly 34 N of usable thrust. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it never lengthens past 110 mm - and it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and this -S model carries the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switch mounting. For new projects, order the ACEJ12X110 instead, which matches this bore, stroke and force class in current production.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X110-40S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -40 code sets a 40 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 110 mm extend stroke anywhere in the 70-110 mm range. It is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. The 110 mm stroke is a made-to-order build because the standard maximum for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm.

No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X110, which keeps the same 12 mm bore, 110 mm stroke, 6 mm rod and force class in the ISO 21287 short body that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint. This -S model carries the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches; on the replacement, order the -S code to keep that sensing capability.
