This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X110-40SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X110-40SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110-40SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X110-40SB runs on a 12 mm bore and delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa). The -40 code gives a 40 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 70-110 mm range on site. The 110 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the body.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a male thread (B code), and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. For sizing, expect roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Production has ended: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X110, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X110-40SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X110-40SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick machined pins or stamped clips off a jig, and the 70-110 mm adjustable range lets one cylinder serve several fixture variants.
With the fitted magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches, a bench-top leak or assembly check can confirm the rod reached the trimmed end position before the cycle advances.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside compact guarding for pressing connectors or labels with roughly 34 N of working force.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. Remember the stop screw only trims the extend stroke within the 40 mm window; it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. The male rod thread (B) pairs with I/Y knuckles, and FA flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the face. If you need position feedback, this S-coded unit already carries the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the current ACEJ12X110 instead and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 40 mm adjustment window (usable extend stroke 70-110 mm), M5x0.8 ports, 6 mm male-thread rod, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s and fixed TPU bumpers. The 110 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
This model is no longer in production. The current drop-in is the ACEJ12X110, which matches the same 12 mm bore, 110 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 family. Because the ACPJ was built to a DIN-standard footprint, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The ACEJ also accepts the same FA/LB mounts and, with the -S code, CMSE / DMSE switches.
