This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X110-40 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X110-40 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X110-40 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 110mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110-40 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X110-40 carries a 12 mm bore and a 110 mm stroke trimmed by a 40 mm stop-screw window, giving a usable range of 70-110 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N on the extend stroke at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 110 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm standard for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X110 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures, guarding and gantries where a full-length body will not fit. In practice, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body pairs with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and speeds run 30-500 mm/s. This unit has no magnet fitted, so position sensing is only possible on the optional -S version.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X110-40 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X110-40 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×110 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -40 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 70-110 mm trim range lets a bench-top leak-test rig clamp shallow housings with the stop screw set per part, using the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa for light clamping.
A 110 mm reach clears a deep nest on a electronics assembly cell, and the 40 mm window lets technicians shorten the throw when a shorter tray variant runs.
Where a full-length body cannot fit beside the belt, the short ISO 21287-class frame pushes small cartons off-line; add the -S magnet option for CMSE / DMSE end-position feedback.
For a 12 mm bore job needing a long, trimmable stroke, this model delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa. If the load needs more muscle, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N; if 56.5 N is generous for the part weight, stay at bore 12 and save space. Remember the stop screw only trims the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston will drift if air is lost. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot, the rod end is female M3x0.5 with PT ports, and ordering the -S code adds the magnet needed for CMSE / DMSE switches. Since this cylinder is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X110 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is a double acting adjustable-stroke cylinder with a 12 mm bore, 110 mm stroke and a 40 mm trim window (usable 70-110 mm), running on filtered air at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 30-500 mm/s, M5x0.8 port and female M3x0.5 rod thread. The 110 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard for this bore.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot. This unit has no magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches need the optional -S version. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X110 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
