This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X120-100B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 120 mm stroke down within the ordered 100 mm window, giving a usable range of 20-120 mm. This 12 mm bore unit delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 120 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped jigs and guard-mounted fixtures. In practice, plan on about 34 N (roughly 3.4 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that this unit is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The rod end is male thread (B code), the ports are M5x0.8, and no magnet is fitted - the optional -S code is required if CMSE / DMSE switch sensing is ever needed.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X120-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip small stamped clips or pins off a die, and the 100 mm trim window lets one cylinder serve several die heights between 20 and 120 mm.
A 12 mm bore sliding sample trays of about 2.9 kg or less vertically (with margin) fits the tight internal envelope, and the male-thread rod (B code) takes a custom probe tip directly.
Running at 30-500 mm/s, the 20-120 mm adjustable range folds flaps on narrow cartons where a full-length profile cylinder would not fit beside the conveyor guard.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa); if less force and a shorter body suffice, a fixed-stroke ACP may cover it, with ACEJ / ACE as the current equivalents. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Mounting uses FA/FB flange or LB foot on the ISO 21287 face, and sensing requires the optional -S magnet ordered at purchase. This model is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X120 as the drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For sizing, treat about 34 N as the usable force at 0.5 MPa, which is roughly a 2.9 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
The -100 code sets a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 20 and 120 mm, but it is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120 (same bore, stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series is DIN-standard. The 120 mm stroke itself is made to order, as the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
