The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder in the discontinued AirTAC ACPJ family, built on a DIN-standard short body with a hard-anodized aluminium barrel and an S45C hard-chrome rod. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code sets a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere between 20 and 120 mm on site, so one cylinder covers a family of part sizes. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits slim guards and tight jig plates. Note the 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
Because the 12 mm bore is the smallest in the range, plan conservatively: about 34 N of push force is a realistic working figure at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 3 kg vertically with a sensible margin. The S code on this model means the optional magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the barrel for end-of-stroke signalling. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X120, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ was built to a DIN standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip tiny clips or caps off a moulding nest, and the 20-120 mm adjustable window lets one cylinder serve several cavity depths without re-plumbing.
With the fitted magnet and a CMSE or DMSE switch clamped to the barrel, electronics labs use the trimmed extend stroke to confirm a PCB tray or probe has reached the set position before the test starts.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, slides into compact analyser chassis where a vial or microplate only needs about 3 kg of vertical-equivalent force to index.
At 12 mm bore this is the entry force level of the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping, sensing probes and small part ejection. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod will still drift if air is lost. FA flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and this S-coded unit already carries the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ACEJ12X120 instead: it is the current ISO 21287 successor in the same force class.

An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 100 mm inside the ordered window, giving a usable range of 20-120 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 120 mm, and it is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued, so for new or replacement orders specify the ACEJ12X120, the current ISO 21287 drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class; verify the mounting dimensions against your fixture first because the ACPJ was DIN-standard.
