This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-100 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-100 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-100 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 120 mm stroke by up to 100 mm, giving a usable range of 20-120 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note that the 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and simply decelerates the piston - it never locks or holds a load, so the rod can drift if air is lost. In practice, plan for roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rating), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X120 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series follows a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-100 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ12X120-100 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip light stamped clips or pins off a small die, while the 100 mm window lets the setter dial the eject position in without shimming.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the 12 mm bore advances vial trays and reagent racks in compact analyser enclosures where every millimetre of length counts.
The 20-120 mm adjustable range covers varied carton heights on small packaging benches, and the fixed TPU bumpers keep end-of-travel noise down at speeds up to 500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push at the same pressure, or drop to a direct ACEJ12X120 if you need the same size in current production. The 100 mm adjustment window suits jobs where the final extend position is tuned during commissioning. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and I/Y rod knuckles fit the M3x0.5 female rod thread. No magnet is fitted on this code, so position switches cannot be used - order the -S version if CMSE / DMSE sensing is needed later.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 30-500 mm/s, with a 6 mm rod, M3x0.5 female thread and M5x0.8 ports. The 120 mm stroke is made to order because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within it, so the effective range is 20-120 mm. It trims the stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air pressure is lost. This ACPJ model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X120 in the ISO 21287 series. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, as the ACP follows a DIN-standard body.
