This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X120-10B is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder in the discontinued AirTAC ACPJ series. Air drives the rod in both directions, and the -10 code gives a 10 mm stop-screw window that trims the 120 mm extend stroke down to 110 mm on site. This 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures and guarded assemblies. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the B code gives a male rod thread with PT ports. Note the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so plan external stops for load holding. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X120, and you should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X120-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light plastic or stamped parts off a nest, and the 10 mm trim lets you tune the eject travel to the fixture without re-plumbing.
With about 2.9 kg of practical vertical push available at 0.5 MPa, this bore suits light dip-test or capping stations where a full-length actuator would not fit the bench frame.
Running at 30-500 mm/s, the 110-120 mm adjustable reach folds flaps on small cartons, and the compact body mounts where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder is too long.
Size this bore by force: at 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push, while the 16 mm bore reaches 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N. If your mechanism needs more than about 34 N of real work - roughly 0.6 of the rated push - step up to ACPJ16. The 6 mm rod with male thread (B code) suits knuckle or tooling attachments; FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the same face. No magnet is fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be used - order the -S code for CMSE / DMSE sensing. Replacement: ACEJ12X120, confirm ISO 21287 dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm stop-screw window, so the 120 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 110 and 120 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with male thread. The 120 mm stroke is made to order since bore 12 tops out at 50 mm standard.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting options. The body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. No magnet is included on this code, so CMSE / DMSE switches need the optional -S magnet version. The ACPJ series is discontinued - order ACEJ12X120 as the current drop-in and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting.
