This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X120-10S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 120 mm stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 110-120 mm. This bore 12 unit pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarded stations. Because the -S code is on this model, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clamped on. At 0.5 MPa plan for roughly 34 N of real work (about 0.6 of the push rating), which is around 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Note: this ACPJ series is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X120, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X120-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to nudge small machined pins off a locating nest, and the 10 mm trim lets the operator dial the eject travel between 110 and 120 mm without shimming.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the rod reached the trimmed end position on each 110-120 mm cycle, feeding a PLC at speeds from 30 to 500 mm/s.
About 3 kg of vertical lift equivalent at 0.5 MPa suits holding small sensor housings against a gauge, and the short body fits inside the rig guard where a full-length cylinder will not.
Size both ways before ordering: bore 16 gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if your load needs more headroom, while staying at bore 12 keeps the 6 mm rod and M5x0.8 ports for the smallest envelope. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston mid-stroke, and on air loss the rod still drifts, so add a separate valve or lock if holding is required. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ACEJ12X120 instead - this ACPJ12X120-10S is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 120 mm extend stroke, so the working range is 110-120 mm. The stroke is made to order because bore 12 tops out at 50 mm as a standard stroke.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X120 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and the FA/FB or LB hole pattern before swapping. The fixed TPU bumper at both ends and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches carry over in the replacement family.
