This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10SB

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10SB

A double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder, the ACPJ12X120-10SB pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa) from a 12 mm bore. The -10 code gives a 10 mm trim window: a stop screw shortens the 120 mm extend stroke on site, so the working range is 110-120 mm. This 120 mm stroke is above the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guards. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the -S magnet this model carries accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, or roughly 2.9 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Note: this model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X120 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10SB Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Small-part ejection from plastic molds

The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears finished caps or connectors off a mold face, and the 10 mm trim window lets the setter dial the eject travel between 110 and 120 mm without shimming.

sensors

Indexing on an SMT feeder slide

With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE switches confirm home and advance on a PCB transfer slide, while the short body fits the 50%-shorter envelope beside the guide rail.

compress

Light hold-down of aluminum extrusions

About 34 N of usable clamp force at 0.5 MPa holds thin-wall extrusion against a drill jig; the male rod thread bolts a knuckle straight to the hold-down arm.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10SB with the ACEJ12X120-10SB

At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and indexing; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push) if the load stalls, or down where space is tighter and force is ample. The male rod thread (B code) takes I/Y knuckles directly. If you need position signals, this unit already carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. Remember the stop screw trims the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts on air loss. Replacement: order ACEJ12X120, the current-production successor in the same force class.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X120-10SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10SB FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 120 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to 110-120 mm with the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 120 mm stroke is a made-to-order length (standard tops out at 50 mm for bore 12).

No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X120 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard while the ACE follows ISO 21287, confirm the mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. This unit's -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches, and the fixed TPU bumpers at both ends simply decelerate the rod at each end of travel.
