This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X120-10 pairs a 12 mm bore with a 120 mm stroke trimmed by a 10 mm stop-screw window, so the usable range is 110-120 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Note the 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so this is a made-to-order build.
Plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kg of push) for real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, and expect about 2.9 kg of vertical lift capability with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, a female M3x0.5 rod thread and M5x0.8 ports, running at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and 30-500 mm/s. No magnet is fitted on this code, so no switch can be mounted; order the -S version if you need CMSE / DMSE sensors. This model is discontinued - the current drop-in is ACEJ12X120, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ12X120-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to nudge machined pins or plastic caps off a jig face, and the 10 mm window lets you trim the 120 mm stroke so the ejector never bottoms out.
With about 2.9 kg of vertical lift capability at a 2:1 margin, this bore suits light capping or dip-testing of vials and slides in compact benchtop automation.
The short body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, slots behind guarding to swing or push a small gate; add the -S magnet code when CMSE / DMSE end-position signals are needed.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force step: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your part or friction load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N) or 20 mm bore (157.1 N) at the same pressure. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 10 mm window and is not a mid-stroke lock - the rod still drifts if air is lost, so add a separate valve or clamp for holding. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the current ACEJ12X120 instead and verify the ISO 21287 footprint.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 120 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere in a 110-120 mm range by the external stop screw. It runs double acting on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s with M5x0.8 ports and a female M3x0.5 rod thread. The 120 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since bore 12 normally tops out at 50 mm standard.
It is a short-body compact cylinder in the ISO 21287 class with a hard-anodized aluminium body, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and an S45C hard-chrome rod, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X120, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP was built to a DIN standard. No magnet is fitted on this code, so position switches require the -S version.
