This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 120 mm stroke by up to 30 mm on site, giving a usable range of 90-120 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and gantries. Running on about 60% of the rated push force, plan roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X120-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 90-120 mm adjustable range and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit nudging machined bushings or clips off a fixture into a collection chute.
A slim short-body cylinder for press-checking micro switches or PCB connectors, with CMSE / DMSE switches available when the optional -S magnet is ordered.
With about 1.7 kg of practical vertical lift at 0.5 MPa, it lowers sample trays or sensor heads in compact diagnostic equipment.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push or the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N push at the same pressure if the load needs more margin. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The B code gives a male 6 mm rod thread, the port is M5x0.8, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. No magnet is fitted; order the -S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X120 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 30-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
The -30 code sets a 30 mm window: a stop screw shortens the 120 mm extend stroke to any length from 90 to 120 mm on site. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X120 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
