This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-75B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-75B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-75B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-75B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X120-75B uses a 12 mm bore and a 120 mm stroke that a stop screw can trim by up to 75 mm, giving a usable range of 45-120 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A rule of thumb: plan for roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120, and you should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-75B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X120-75B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 45-120 mm trim range lets a mold setter dial the ejector throw per cavity, with 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa enough to push light nylon or POM parts off the core.
A 2.9 kg vertical-lift margin covers racks of 5-10 mL vials, and the short body fits under the low deck plate of a compact analyzer.
Running at 30-500 mm/s, the trimmed stroke stops the tucker blade just past the flap, and the fixed TPU bumpers quiet the return at both ends.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and positioning; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) for roughly 78% more force, or drop to a smaller option only if the 6 mm rod is adequate for your side load. The male rod thread (B code) takes an external knuckle directly. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. No magnet is fitted on this version; order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch position feedback. For new designs, specify the ACEJ12X120 instead.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm with male thread, and a 75 mm adjustment window on the 120 mm stroke. This model is discontinued; the ACEJ12X120 is the current replacement.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 75 mm, so the effective range is 45-120 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered 120 mm. The stop is an end stop only, not a load-holding brake, so the piston drifts on air loss. This version has no magnet, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted; the optional -S magnet code enables them. The fixed TPU bumpers at both ends simply decelerate the piston, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face.
