This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X120-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X120-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X120-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 120mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X120-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued AirTAC model is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke. The -75 code sets a 75 mm trim window, so the stop screw shortens the 120 mm stroke anywhere in a 45-120 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. Because the 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, it is a made-to-order build. Note the 120 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so this unit is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim fixtures and guarded assemblies. As a working rule, budget about 34 N (0.6 of the push force) for real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The rod carries a female M3x0.5 thread and ports are M5x0.8. No magnet is fitted, so position switches cannot be used; order the -S variant if sensing is needed. Production has ended - the current drop-in is ACEJ12X120, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series follows the older DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X120-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X120-75 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×120 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa nudges finished caps or clips off a mold face, and the stop screw trims the extend stroke to the exact ejection depth needed.
A 45-120 mm adjustable reach probes PCB trays and connector seats in tight test rigs where a full-length profile cylinder will not fit.
About 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa secures pouches or cartons under a guide during labeling, with the TPU bumpers softening each end of travel.
At 56.5 N push (0.5 MPa) this bore 12 unit handles light clamping and part present checks; step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N or bore 20 for 157.1 N at the same pressure. The 75 mm window trims the extend stroke from 120 mm down to 45 mm via the external stop, but the stop is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and the female M3x0.5 rod thread accepts I/Y knuckles. Since this model is discontinued, specify ACEJ12X120 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull is 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8. The 120 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm, and the -75 window lets the stop screw trim the extend stroke anywhere from 45 to 120 mm.
Not on this unit - no magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE switches cannot be read; the magnet comes only with the optional -S code. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X120 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions, since this older series follows a DIN-standard body rather than the current profile.
