This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X125-100S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X125-100S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X125-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 125mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X125-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X125-100S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 125 mm stroke trimmed by a 100 mm stop-screw window, so the extend stroke can be set anywhere between 25 and 125 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N. The 125 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which suits cramped slide assemblies and guarding. Because roughly 60% of the 56.5 N push is realistic working force, plan on about 34 N of usable push, which lifts about 3.4 kg vertically - or about 1.7 kg with a 2:1 margin. The -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X125 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X125-100S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X125-100S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×125 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm the trimmed extend position, while the 25-125 mm stop window matches short ejection moves on electronics fixtures.
About 34 N of realistic push at 0.5 MPa suits small plastic or thin-sheet clamps where the short body must fit inside the jig wall.
The 125 mm made-to-order stroke and M5x0.8 port suit small vial or slide pushers running at 30-500 mm/s on clean, filtered air.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If the load needs more, step up to bore 16 (100.5 N) or bore 20 (157.1 N) in the same compact family. The stop screw only trims the extend stroke and does not hold a load - on air loss the piston drifts, so add an external stop where holding matters. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order ACEJ12X125 as the current-production replacement and verify ISO 21287 dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. Port is M5x0.8, rod thread is female M3x0.5, and the 125 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard for bore 12.
The -100 code is a 100 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 125 mm extend stroke to any setting from 25 mm up, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. The stop is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X125 (same bore, stroke and force class) - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
